I. GRAMMAR: LIKES 

LIKE TO DO  LIKE DOING 
Meanings: You want to do something because you like it.  Meanings: It's your hobby. Whenever you do it, you like it.

Examples:

1. He likes to play football tomorrow. 

2. I like to eat some bread before bedtime today.

3. She loves to meet her idol in the future.

4. He prefers to drink a cup of coffee tomorrow morning.

Examples:

1. He likes playing football. 

2. I like eating some bread before bedtime.  

3. She loves meeting her idol.

4. He prefers drinking a cup of coffee in the morning.

1. Like to do/ doing: Thích làm gì

2. love to do/ doing: Yêu thích việc gì 

3. enjoy doing: Thích làm gì (thấy vui, thưởng thức)

4. fancy doing (start new hobbies): Mới thích việc gì 

5. adore doing = really like doing: Say mê, mê làm gì

6. be interested in doing: thích thú với việc gì

7. Be fond of doing (long hobby): thích làm gì (từ lâu rồi)

8. Be keen on doing (strong hobby): Say mê việc gì

9. Be really into doing = really like doing: Thực sự thích làm gì 

10. Be addicted to doing: say mê, nghiền cái gì

11. Be hooked on doing: Vô cùng thích thú với việc gì 

12. dislike to do/ doing: không thích làm gì 

13. hate to do/ doing: ghét làm gì 

14. detest to do/ doing: Căm ghét, ghét cay ghét đắng cái gì

15. mind doing: Phiền toái việc gì 

16. would like to do (want to do something in a formal way): thích/ muốn làm gì (trang trọng)

17. would love to do (want to do something in a formal way): thích/ muốn làm gì (trang trọng)

18. would prefer to do (want to do something in a formal way): thích/ muốn làm gì (trang trọng)

19. would hate to do (formal): Ghét việc gì (trang trọng)

20. Like V-ing better: Thích việc gì hơn 

Eg1.: I like reading comics better.

21. Prefer V1-ing to V2-ing: Thích việc gì hơn việc gì khác

Eg2: I prefer reading comics to learning English.

22. Would prefer to V1 rather than V2: Thích việc gì hơn việc gì khác

Eg3: I would prefer to read comics rather than learn English.

23. Would rather V1 than V2: Thích việc gì hơn việc gì khác

Eg4: I would rather read comics than learn English.
