[IELTS Writing] How to describe a pie chart

 CÁCH MIÊU TẢ MỘT BIỂU ĐỒ TRÒN 

Giới thiệu chung: Biểu đồ tròn (Pie chart) là một trong những dạng biểu đồ hay xuất hiện trong Academic IELTS Writitng Task 1. Đề có thể yêu cầu miêu tả 1 biểu đồ tròn, 2 biểu đồ tròn, 3 biểu đồ tròn, 4 biểu đồ tròn, 5-6 biểu đồ tròn, nhưng cũng ecó thể đưa ra đề trộn (gồn biểu đồ tròn và biểu đồ đường, biểu đồ tròn và biểu đồ cột, biểu đồ tròn và bảng số liệu). 

Thể loại bài viết: Tất cả các dạng bài viết trong IELTS Writing Task 1 đều là bài viết dạng miêu tả (Description). Vì vậy, các bạn chú ý chỉ miêu tả thông tin, dữ liệu được cung cấp trên biểu đồ, chứ không thêm các thông tin kiến thức thực tế bên ngoài, và cũng không đưa ra quan điểm chủ quan của người viết. 

Ngữ pháp áp dụng: Tùy vào thời gian mà đề cung cấp, các bạn sẽ áp dụng thì cho phù hợp. Ngoài ra, các mẫu câu so sánh cần được áp dụng nhiều trong bài miêu tả biểu đồ tròn. 

1. So sánh ngang bằng: S1 + V + as + Adj/ Adv + as + S2 + (Aux.). 

2. So sánh hơn với Tính từ/ Trạng từ ngắn: S1 + V + Adj/ Adv-er + than + S2 + (Aux.). 

3. So sánh hơn với Tính từ/ Trạng từ dài: S1 + V + more/ less + Adj/ Adv + than + S2 + (Aux.). 

4. So sánh hơn nhất với Tính từ/ Trạng từ ngắn: S + V + the + Adj/ Adv-est. 

5. So sánh hơn nhất với Tính từ/ Trạng từ dài: S + V + the + most + Adj/ Adv.

The chart below gives the percentage of social media users by age in Jamestown in 2018.

The pie chart depicts the level of social network surfers in five distinct cohorts in Jamestown in the year of 2018.

Overall, it is clear that whilst young people at the age of under 35 were more interested in surfing the social networks, older individuals experienced the smaller proportion in use of social media this year. In particular, the 13-25 age bracket had the highest social media use rate.

Specifically, on the subject of the two significant proportions in the so-called case, the users under 25 years old, normally students, accounted for nearly a half (40%) of the market share, which means that the data stood at the peak. Similarly, the number of social media users at the ages between 26-35, typically young labors, was 5% lower, but it was still higher than the total percentage of three rest groups.

By contrast, in terms of the low market share, or the adult subjects, all of them constituted under a quarter. More particularly, both the 36-45 age group and the middle-aged saw a pretty low ratio in surfing the social networks, at 18% and 10% respectively. Finally, only 2% seniors used the internet for social channels, or the elderly rarely surfed the social networks, in other words.
