2. Cue card và bài mẫu thường gặp về Study

Describe your favourite subject. You should say:

What it is

- Who teaches it

- How it is taught/ how you learn it

- Why you like it

- When I read the cue card, the first thing springing to mind was English.

When I was in school, English was the subject I hated the most. Because Vietnam's education system often focuses on an exam-based curriculum in which we learned English by learning easy-to-remember grammar and vocabulary in school. We weren't taught to listen and speak, so it's no wonder I couldn't speak a word of English when I graduated from high school.

But things have changed since I started college. I'm majoring in English, so I have to take English speaking classes. At first, it was a nightmare when I couldn't understand what my teachers and friends said. But the environment boosted my English skills a lot. Through practice sessions, I achieved a certain level of proficiency in English. I even joined a local tour guide club, where I had the opportunity to meet foreigners, practice English with them, and discover more about their country. Those were interesting experiences.

I have gradually built up confidence in speaking English and enjoyed conversing with foreigners. At school, there was a subject called “Culture and Civilization” in which we learned a lot about the culture and traditions of English speaking countries like UK, USA or Australia. Such a topic has really broadened my horizons. I will never regret choosing English as my major in university.
