2. Cue card và bài mẫu thường gặp về News

Talk about an interesting news that you read in the newspaper

- What it was

- In which newspaper you read it

- When it happened

- Explain why you think this news to be interesting

I would like to talk about news I read in The Times of India few days ago. It was about a brave girl who fought with kidnappers. The incident just happened 3 weeks ago when an unknown stranger was trying to kidnap a small child in the street. The child was 5 years old boy who was standing outside a shop and used to regularly play there with his friends. The strange man first gave chocolate to that child, took the child in his lap and was about to go. The innocent child found chocolate as so much tempting that it could not even understand that the stranger could be a kidnapper.

But a girl named Sukanya who is 15 years old found that stranger to be a suspicious person as she had never seen him before and she knew that child, being his neighbour. She immediately reacted on the spot snatching the child from that strange man and screamed aloud which led all the people in the street to rush out towards her. People caught that strange man and brought him in front of the police inspector who imprisoned him after inquiring him for hours. Everybody in the street as well as in the town appreciated that girl’s brave spirit. I found this story extremely interesting since I was filled with great level of inspiration and motivation to do something good in the society. Apart from this, I believe this a good real story that would help others to stay awaken by leaving a message that one may protect oneself if surrounded by such criminals.

Describe an interesting piece of news that you have recently read about or heard about. You should say:

- what the story was

- who was involved in the story

- where you read or heard about this story

- and explain why this news story was interesting to you.

Recently, the world of media was in an uproar about the suicide of a very talented actor in Mumbai. He was found hanging in his home after the neighbours complained about a smell emanating from his home. As soon as the police confirmed who the actor was, the media arrived on the scene and began reporting.

Due to the young age and brilliance of the actor, the media theorised that he was murdered. Because of drugs found in his body, the media industry focused its attention on his friends, family, and girlfriend. All of them were summoned for questioning.

As almost every news channel was reporting the story, it was everywhere: newspapers, TV, internet, magazines… Nighttime debates were held over how the ‘murder’ occurred, and controversial statements were said. This story was fascinating for everyone.

People believed that the media had jumped from suicide to murder without any concrete proof, and thus, any investigation that the police did only insulted the actor’s memory. This added to the fact that the drug cartel connection that the police and the CBI proposed disintegrated because there was simply no evidence to confirm that link. This story is also interesting as it revealed how many media companies were caught trying to increase their TRPs in a very illegal way.
